Mon. Korean Traits 한국인들의 국민성

  1. have a great work ethic : 직업 의식이 투철하다, 근면 성실하다     

     (예문) We have a great work ethic.

             우리는 매우 근면 성실하다.

     (예문) I have no experience, but I have a great work ethic.

             저는 경험은 없지만, 아주 근면 성실합니다.

     (예문) Having a great work ethic is one of the most important qualities.

             근면 성실한 태도는 가장 중요한 자질 중 하나이다.

 

  2. affectionate : 정이 많은

     (예문) Korean are affectionate.

             한국 사람들은 정이 많다.

     (예문) I would like to date an affectionate person.

             나는 정이 많은 사람과 사귀고 싶어.

     (예문) He seems affectionate, but he is very calculating. 

             그는 정이 많은 것 같지만, 매우 계산적이다.

 

  3. be gung-ho about education : 교육열이 높다

     (예문) Koreans are very gung-ho about education.

             한국인들은 교육열이 매우 높다.

     (예문) Students in that neighborhood are gung-ho about education..

             그 동네 학생들은 학구열이 매우 높아.

     (예문) If you are gung-ho about education, this is the right school for you. 

             교육열이 높은 사람이라면 이 학교가 적합해. 

Tue . Charging Cell Phones  핸드폰 충전

  1. battery drains quickly : 배터리가 빨리 닳는다

     (예문) The battery drains quickly on a modern phone.

             최신식 휴대폰은 건전지가 빨리 닳는다.

     (예문) The battery drains quickly if you watch a lot videos.

             동영상을 많이 보면 배터리가 빨리 닳아. 

     (예문) I charge it often because the battery drains quickly.

             나는 뱉리가 빨리 닳기 때문에 충전을 자주 한다.

 

  2. phone charger : 휴대폰 충전기

     (예문) Convenience stores sell phone chargers.

             편의점에서 휴대폰 충전기를 판매한다. 

     (예문) I bought a new phone chargers for my trip.

             나는 여행 중 사용할 휴대폰 충전기를 새로 샀다.

     (예문) I couldn't charge my phone because the phone chargers was broken.

             나는 휴대폰 충전기가 고장 나는 바람에 휴대폰을 충전하지 못했다. 

 

  3. on the go : 이동 중에

     (예문) You can charge your phone on the go.

             이동 중에도 휴대폰을 충전할 수 있다. 

     (예문) He is often on the go because of his job.

             그는 일 떄문에 이동 중인 때가 많다.   

     (예문) I missed your call because I was on the go.

             이동 중이라 전화를 받지 못했어요. 

Wed. Social Media 소셜 미디어

  1. rough overview : 대략적인 개요

     (예문) People's social media accounts are often a rough overview of their personality.

             한 사람의 소셜 미디어 계정은 그 사람의 성격에 대한 대략적인 개요인 경우가 많다. 

     (예문) The first chapter was a rough overview of the book.

             첫 장은 책 전반에 대한 대략적인 개요였다.  

     (예문) Can you give me a rough overview of what happened?

             무슨 일이 있었는지 대략적으로 말해 주겠니?   

 

  2. excessive exposure : 과도한 노출

     (예문) One of the problems with social media is excessive exposure.

             과도한 노출은 소셜 미디어의 문제저 중 하나이다. 

     (예문) I stopped using social media because of excessive exposure.

             나는 과도한 노출 때문에 소셜 미디어 사용을 그만뒀다.

     (예문) Excessive exposure can be a problem for Internet users.

             인터넷 사용자들에게 과도한 노출은 문제가 될 수 있다.  

 

  3. privacy infringement : 사생활 침해

     (예문) This can cause privacy infringement.

             이것은 사생활 침해를 초래할 수 있다.   

     (예문) Social media users must think about privacy infringement.

             소셜 미디어 사용자들은 사생활 침해에 대해 고민해 봐야 한다.  

     (예문) Privacy infringement is a continuous problem.  

             사생활 침해는 지속적인 문제이다.  

Thu. Tight Job Market 취업난

  1. be at an all-time high : 역대 최고치다

     (예문) Youth unemployment is at an all-time high.

             청년 실업이 역대 최고 수준이다. 

     (예문) The number of visitors to Korean is at an all-time high.

             한국을 방문하는 사람들의 수가 역대 최고치다.  

     (예문) Temperatures last summer were at an all-time high.

             작년 여름 기온은 역대최고치였다.  

 

  2. job-hunt : 일자리를 구하다

     (예문) Many young people are spending a lot of time job-hunting.

             많은 젊은이들이 오랜 시간 동안 구직 활동을 한다.  

     (예문) Job-hunting can take many months these days.

             요즘은 일자리를 구하는데 여러 달이 걸릴 수도 있다. 

     (예문) I didn't know how to job-hunting, so I asked for help. 

             나는 일자리를 구하는 방법을 몰라서 도움을 청했다.    

 

  3. build up one's resume : 이력서를 보강하다     

     (예문) People try to build up their resumes. 

             사람들은 이력서를 보강하려고 노력한다.  

     (예문) You can build up your resume through volunteer work.

             봉사활동을 통해 이력서를 보강할 수 있다.  

     (예문) You need to build up your resume if you want to work there.

             그곳에서 일을 하고 싶으면 이력서를 보강해야 돼.  

Fri. Illegal Downloads 불법 다운로드

  1. copyright infringement : 저작권 침해

     (예문) Illegal downloads are a form of copyright infringement.

             불법 다운로드는 저작권을 침해하는 행위이다.

     (예문) Copying movie files is a form of copyright infringement.

             영화 파일을 복사하는 것은 저작권 침해의 한 형태다.  

     (예문) Copyright infringement is not as big a problem as it was in the past.

             과거에 비하면 저작권 침해가 그리 큰 문제는 아니다.  

 

  2. be on the decline : 감소 중이다

     (예문) Thankfully, illegal downloads are on the decline.

             다행히 불법 다운로드가 많이 줄고 있다.   

     (예문) Airplane ticket prices are on the decline.

             비행기 표 값이 내려가고 있다.   

     (예문) His popularity is on the decline.

             그의 인기가 떨어지고 있어.

 

  3. heightened awareness : 개선된 인식

     (예문) Part of the reason is heightened awareness of the issue.

             이유 중 하나는 문제에 대한 개선된 인식이다.  

     (예문) The Internet has led to heightened awareness of that issue.

             인터넷으로 인해 그 문제에 대한 인식이 제고되었다.  

     (예문) The Korean pop culture wave has led to heightened awareness of Korean culture. 

             한류 열풍으로 인해 한국 문화에 대한 인식이 높아졌다.
