When you're in a rush, it can be tough to catch a taxi. Nowadays, many people use a messaging app to call for a taxi. Because Korea is so tech-savvy, this is now a widespread preactice. Users enter their location and destination into the app. They can even select the level of service they want. Then, a nearby driver is dispatched. I used the service late at night, when taxis are few and far between. Usually, the wait its less than 10 minutes. The technology is so cutting-edge that you can even see where the taxi is on a map. Another perk is that the driver already knows your destination. This saves you the trouble of explaining how to get there.

바쁠 때는 택시를 잡는 것이 힘들 수 있다. 요즘은 많은 사람이 메신저 앱으로 택시를 호출한다. 한국은 워낙 기술 사용이 익숙한 나라여서 이 같은 일이 이미 흔한 일이다. 사용자들은 앱에 본인의 위치와 목적지를 입력한다. 심지어 원하는 택시의 등급도 선택할 수 있다. 그러면 주변에 있는 택시를 보내 준다. 나는 택시가 흔치 않은 늦은 밤에 서비스를 사용한다. 보통 대기 시간은 10분 이내다. 기술이 워낙 최신이라 심지어 택시의 위치를 지도상에서 확인할 수도 있다. 기사가 이미 사용자의 목적지를 알고 있다는 것도 또 하나의 장점이다. 이것은 어떻게 가야 하는지 설명하는 수고를 덜어 준다.
